I opened The Bead Room in Bedford in June 2005 and relocated the business to Devon in July 2009.
It all started with an amazing two year trip around the world, when my passion for all things crafty and creative was re-ignited. I saw many wonderful things during my travels, but it was the world of beads that truly captured my imagination. I was intrigued by the incredible diversity of these little things and somewhat surprised by their allure.
The colourful Indian glass and the hand painted Peruvian ceramics were among my favourites and I'll never forget the beautifully crafted New Zealand paua shell, the precision of the Czech crystal or the strange smelling tribal jewellery in Namibia!
While abroad, I visited many bead shops and began to develop some fanciful ideas of my own. On my return to the UK, I decided to make my dreams a reality and am now pleased to be able to invite you to my own little piece of bead heaven in the lovely town ofTotnes.
The Bead Room stocks a huge range of beads in all shapes and sizes, as well as everything you will need to get started on your own creations. I have a good selection of hand made accessories on display, to purchase or inspire, and I provide a full jewellery making service if you're short on time or ideas - you pick the colours and I'll do the rest!
